I believe in maintaining a basic work ethic and social skills (Even though I come off like I have none sometimes. Oops.)
I hope that people don't lose the art of having a good work ethic or social skills. Especially with technology advancing and life's answers are becoming more and more accessible at the click of a button.
I hate that. Technology isn't advancing our culture if it breed laziness wrapped up in the shield of convenience. For example apps like "Grub-hub" exist for people who are too lazy to exercise their ability to go out and get food or pick up a phone and use basic social skills to order a pizza.
The fact that people younger then myself will never ask for directions thanks to "Google Maps." I admit I use that too when I get lost and I didn't understand the directions I was given or there is no one around to ask. But, I at least try to build my brain cells and figure it out myself.
Another basic social skill that is being lost in my age range and younger is the ability to meet someone in the real world and actually do so anymore. The "I'm too busy" or "I'm shy" excuse is weak. Part of the beauty of pursuing a relationship is learning to balance your schedule and go out of your comfort zone. But, will people learn that with sites like "Match.com" or apps like "Tinder?" Where at the click of a button or swipe of a finger you have another pretty face to chat up or look at. Dating sites/apps also only aid people in building a convincing persona that isn't necessarily true and helps people deceive others wheres the value in that?
While I'm on this rant might I add that social media sites like Facebook, Snap chat, and Instagram don't help either. Why hang out with people anymore when you can just look at one of their profiles and learn about everything they are up to? It also breeds narcissism big time. I'm friends with so many people on Facebook or Instagram who are building this fake persona that doesn't match them in real life. Or if it does its through trying to create this fake persona that they lost their real selves which were just fine to begin with. I believe in knowing people in real life and working hard at life even in the simple things to get where I am going. this I believe.
